On Tuesday, September 9, 2014, the Community Hospice Hope Chest
Thrift Stores received the 2013 City of Modesto Recycling Award.
Every year the City of Modesto recognizes organizations and
businesses for their efforts to reduce, reuse and recycle waste
products. John Renner, Retail Director for Community Hospice was
presented the award at the Modesto City Council meeting. This is
the the third year in a row the Hope Chest Thrift Stores have
received this award for their outstanding efforts.
On September 8, 2014, friends and members of the Friends of
Hospice gathered at Appetéz Restaurant for a beautiful luncheon
to celebrate the installation of new officers. The theme this
year was “The Fabric of Friends” and revolved around the
framework of a quilt. Foundation Board member Sally
Cofer-Lindberg and Friends member Meryl Snider led the
installation and explained,”Quilting is much like the way you all
hold the fabric of Community Hospice together with your gifts of
time, talent, funds and most of all your hearts.
Provident Care Home Care challenged Community Hospice to the ALS
Ice Bucket Challenge. We graciously accepted their challenge and
return challenged Stockton Supply, Atherton and Associates and
5.11 Tactical. Participants have 24 hours to complete the ALS Ice
Bucket Challenge or donate to www.alsa.org.
Over 500 motorcycles rode through the Sierra foothills on a
100-mile charity ride to benefit Central Valley hospice services
in the 13th annual Truckin’ for Hospice June 21, 2014.
Organized by the San Joaquin Unit of the California Trucking
Association, this year the event started at Dell’Osso Family Farm
in Lathrop and ended at Mountain Valley Express in Manteca. At
the final stop, participants enjoyed a barbecue meal, truck show,
raffle and silent auction.
