Modesto (January 2, 2015) – On January 5, 2015 Community Hospice,
a nonprofit hospice agency serving the Central Valley since 1979,
will welcome a new full time Medical Director, Dr. Centi Younan.
Dr. Younan will supersede Dr. Garfield Pickell who has served as
the Community Hospice Medical Director the past 10 years. At Dr.
Pickell’s request to retire as Medical Director, he will continue
to serve as a part time Associate Medical Director primarily
serving Community Hospice patients and families at the Alexander
Cohen Hospice House in Hughson, CA.
Modesto-based Community Hospice has announced that Dr. Centi
Younan will serve as its medical director starting Monday.
Younan is replacing Dr. Garfield Pickell, who served a medical
director for 10 years. Pickell had requested to retire from his
position but continue on with hospice as a part-time associate
medical director, primarily serving at the Alexander Cohen
Hospice House in Hughson, according to a hospice news release.
Thanks to the amazing efforts of the Friends of Hospice and the
generous support of community members, the fifth annual Fantasy
of Trees was a huge success! The Gallo Center for the Arts
provided a magical backdrop for this event that included a
Holiday Luncheon, Boutique & Silent Auction, and Santa Shares
On December 7, 2014, community members and local Veterans
celebrated Pearl Harbor Day and remembered the loved ones that
are no longer with us. The 2014 lighting of the large evergreen
tree at Sutter Gould Memorial Medical Center marked the 29th
annual Community Hospice tree lighting event. This year, our
honorary tree lighter was Fred K. Cassidy who represented World
War II Veterans.
